Selected in the cold and snowy Finland, Minnesota by Kaare and Pam Melby, these peas are simply prolific! Quick to grow, they are best eaten before peas have formed in the snow stage as well as dried down. These peas make the most incredible winter porridge, and the animals love them as well. As always, peas are a great protein source. Pea vines are also edible; you can steam or sauté the tender shoot tips.
Direct seeds in loose soil well after danger of frost in rows 12-18 inches apart. Plant 4-6” apart. Plant height is 3-4 feet and will need trellis. Harvest when pods are skinny and green for snap pea or wait until pods have dried down for making soup.
