(80 days) These fruits are a lighter color, very bitter, very productive, easier to pick, and are especially small - sometimes the size of a pea! Kittley Eggplant is very important in West Africa, and many other tropical parts of the globe. Our seeds were donated by Simeon Bakunda.
You can eat these small, round, and bitter eggplants when green and unripe. Kittley can also be boiled before eating or made into a sauce. This Katilee is used as medicine to treat high blood pressure, asthmas, diabetes, fever, or malaria.
Growing Tips: Start indoors about 1/8” deep 6 weeks before the last frost. Transplant well after danger of frost and ideally when night temps don’t go lower than 50F. Sow plants 18” apart. Plant in full sun and need to stake or trellis plants. Fertilize with fish emulsion, compost, manure or a soluble, complete fertilizer.
