Finland Seed Saving Workshop and Discussion - January 11th, 2020
Emerging Farmer's Conference - January 25th, 2020 - We will have our "Seed Stories" booth up recording seed stories as well as selling seeds!
Sustainable Farming Association Annual Event ( Feb 8th) - We will be presenting on our survey results from our University of Minnesota RSDP grant asking about seed production in Minnesota. We will also hold a discussion as well as have a seed rack to sell our seeds.
Organic Seed Alliance Growers Conference (Feb 14 - 16) - We will have our Seed Stories booth up to collect stories for our podcast.
Indigenous Farming Conference (March 5-8) - We will present on seed production and how to get involved.
East Otter Tail County Horticulture Day (March 14th) Register HERE - We will be talking about soil health and seed production.
Past Events - 2019
CBD 101 - August 14th, 5pm. Free Event. Location: Manna Co-op, 105 Barbara Ave. Detroit Lakes, MN. Discussion and education on all things CBD. This will include how cannabinoids concentrate in hemp plants and their potential benefits.
Student for Organic Seed Symposium August 22-25th. Registration Information. Location: Bethel Horizons Retreat Center Dodgeville, WI. The Symposium is organized and hosted by the Society of Organic Seed Professionals (SOSP). Event registration is discounted for members of SOSP.
Indigenous Foods Expo - Sept 21, 11am - 3pm. Free Event. Location: Central Hilliside Park in Duluth, MN - Zachary Paige will be facilitating a Seed Saving Demo @ Indigenous Foods Expo. This event will focus on Indigenous foods and native producers to highlight their produce/food/businesses. There will be food and educational vendors, Indigenous food cooking and processing demos, Indigenous music, Indigenous cultural arts, healthy family games including a 3-on-3 Basketball tournament, and more! Seed Saving for Northern Climate - Sept 22, 10am - 2pm - $5 SFA members, $10 non-members, register here. Location: Little Chili Farm 7217 Hill Rd, Two Harbors, MN. A Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota sponsored event. We will facilitate a seed swap while discussing how seed growers in Duluth area can be supported. Potluck lunch at noon.
North Circle Seeds Field Day Oct 12, 12am - 4pm - Free Event. Location: 26253 485th Street Vergas, MN 56587. Come visit the North Circle Seeds processing facility as we will tour the seed plots, showcase and demonstrate the winnow wizard and seed cleaning aspirator for cleaning both large and small seeds, wet seed fermentation, discuss seed storage options and host a seed swap telling seed stories. Be sure to stick around for the Deep Roots Farm-to-Table Festival a few miles away at 5pm the same day! Details below;
Deep Roots Festival Oct 12, 2pm - 10pm. Registration details to come. Location: Milt’s Barn, 47000 180th Ave, Pelican Rapids. SFA-MN Lake Agassiz Chapter is hosting a new signature event celebrating fall root crops, local farms and features an afternoon of farm tours and hands-on educational workshops followed by an evening of good music and catered farm-to-table dinner. Upper Midwest Seed Summit Oct 17 -18. Registration Details. Location: Goodman community Center | 149 Waubesa Street Madison, WI. In partnership with Seed to Kitchen Collaborative at University of Wisconsin–Madison, the Organic Seed Alliance, is hosting an Upper Midwest Seed Summit. This will be a two-day gathering of regional seed leaders to learn, connect and identify opportunities to advance the regional organic seed system in the Upper Midwest.
Food Justice Summit - November 7th We had our "Seed Stories" booth up and were recording seed stories of the participants!
