Is Spanish for tree chili, because of its tall woody stem that can grow up to 3-4' tall. Peppers turn from green to bright red and keep their color when dried. They are about the same heat as cayenne pepper, with pungency-producing chemical in the veins (not the seeds). They are very popular in Mexican cooking and are great for enhance other flavors in a recipe. Add to soups, sauces, almost anything.

    Harvest Details

    Wait until peppers are red. If frost is coming, you can harvest the entire plant and hang upside down in a dry environment. Peppers will slowly turn red and ripen.
