Pole Bean. A favorite among Northern growers because of its vigor and productivity. This completely stringless dark green bean will grow up to 11 feet tall in fertile soil. Early, dependable bean with an extended harvest period. Produces round pods. The beans may be picked at 7" in length for extra-slender "filet" beans. Delicious at all lengths, even after the seeds enlarge.
Growing Tips - Prepare the planting bed by using a garden fork or lightly till ground to loosen the soil. Plant when soil temperature is around 60F. Mix in a 1-inch layer of mature compost. Plant seeds 1 inch deep and 2 to 4 inches apart. Thin pole beans to 6 inches apart. Put trelis on North side of garden for beans to climb so it does not shade other plants that need full sun. Harvest begins once beans are full and swolen and should be picked every 3-5 days to avoid beans getting over-ripe and woody.
